Budget Everest Base Camp Trek is one of the highly recommended treks. This trek focuses on budget without having customers overflowing the cash. This route to Everest includes ascent and descent on icy trails, hills. The route passes by snow capped mountains, hanging bridges, raging rivers, deep forests, and waterfalls. 

Seasonal Information:

The best season for this trek  is Spring(March-May). In this season, the weather is stable with clear skies and Rhododendron blooms. It is the best for photography and a comfortable trekking experience. You get to see the view of Mount Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse and Makalu. Likewise, the Autumn(September-November)  season is also a recommended season. In this season, the weather is stable with pristine mountain vistas. It is a peak trekking season as well as the festive season of Sherpas. The temperature is moderate at day and chill at night. In winter(December-February), the temperature is cold. There are high chances of snowfall and the route is also difficult for trekking. Therefore, it is only recommended for highly experienced trekkers. This season is challenging but peaceful.  In Monsoon(June-August), frequent rainfall occurs. The trail is slippery and there is a high risk of landslides. The visibility of view is less due to fog and cloud cover. It is the least recommended season.

For Cultural aspect, You can explore Namche Bazaar. It is the vibrant town of sherpas known for its monasteries, bakeries and trading market. Namche Bazaar is the economic hub  of Khumbu region and a center of Sherpa culture. You can visit Thame Monastery which is a century old Buddhist Monastery that provides spiritual insights. You can experience Tibetan-influenced culture, you can participate in Dumji Festival and Mani Rimdu festival. Similarly for Natural insights, You can witness the panoramic view of Mount Everest along with other Himalayan peaks. You can encounter snow leopards, Himalayan Tahrs, Yaks and Danphe.You get to trek through Lush Rhododendron forest, alpine meadows.

Preparation Guide:

  1. You need to be physically fit, you should do cardiovascular fitness, strength training like legs, core and upper body to handle long days of trekking with a backpack. 

  2. For clothing you should have waterproof jackets, warm fleece, and a down jacket. Gloves, hats and thermal wears and trekking boots with ankle supports.

  3. For gear, trekking poles, sunglasses, headlamp, sleeping bag(-10c to -20c) and sunscreen is recommended.

  4. Bring a first aid kit, water purification tablets, altitude sickness medication.

  5. You should have TIMS permit and Sagarmatha National Park Permit

  6. You should have travel insurance with you during the trek.

  7. Likewise, mental preparation is also very important, like having patience, flexibility about the weather.

Short Itinerary ( 12 days )

Arrival in Kathmandu and early morning scenic flight  from Kathmandu to Lukla. Start our trek to Phakding through Dudh Koshi River Valley, passing suspension bridges and Sherpa Village. Stay Overnight at a teahouse. Distance:7.5 km, walking hours: 3-4 hrs

Trek to Namche Bazar crossing several suspension bridges that include the iconic Hillary bridge  and stay overnight at a guest house. Distance: 10-12 km, Walking Hours: 5-6 hr trek, Altitude Gain: 830 m

 

We’ll hike to the hotel Everest view (3,8880 m) for the stunning view of mount everest and return. Distance:5-6 km, Walking Hours: 2-3 hrs, Altitude Gain: 440m

We’ll continue our trek to Tengboche along the glacial river of Dudh Koshi watching the magnificent view of Mountains. You can explore the Tengboche Monastery and feel deeply connected to the place. And stay overnight at a teahouse. Distance : 10 km, Walking Hours: 5-6 hrs, Altitude Gain: 427m

Now descending to the Imja Khola river, then ascending to Dingboche that takes 5-6 hrs of trek. Enjoy the views of Ama Dablam, Island Peak, and other towering peaks. Distance: 10-12 km, Walking Hours: 5-6 hr, Altitude Gain: 550 m

 

Day 6 is about the rest day or you can do a short hike to Nagarjun hill and see the epic view of Makalu, Island Peak, and Lobuche East. Return to Dingboche and stay overnight at a tea house. Distance: 3-4 km (round trip), walking hours: 3-4 hrs, altitude gain and loss: 690 m

Moving forward to Lobuche(4,910 m) stop at the Thukla Pass memorial site honoring the climbers who lost their lives on Everest. Trekking time would be 5-6 hrs. Distance: 7-8 km, Walking Hour: 5-6 hr, Altitude Gain: 500 m.

We'll trek to reach Everest Base Camp(5,364 m) passing along Khumbu Glacier and celebrating the achievement, enjoying the views of icefall and towering peaks and  then returning to Gorak Shep for the night stay. Distance: 8-10 km, Walking Hours: 5-6 hr, Altitude Gain: 454 m.

 

A hike to kala Pathar to witness the stunning sunrise over mount everest, and descend to Periche via Gorak shep and Lobuche.Stay overnight at a guesthouse in Periche. It takes us 7-8 hrs of trek time. Distance: 7-8 km, Walking Hours: 7-8 hr,Altitude gain: 381m and Altitude loss: 1,305 m.

Return to Namche Bazaar and stay overnight .Distance: 13-15 km, Walking Hours:7-8 km, Altitude Loss: 800 m.

 

Again trek to Lukla through forests and cross suspension bridge. The trekking time would be 7-8 hrs and stay overnight in Lukla. Distance: 10-12 km, Walking Hours: 7-8 hr, Altitude Loss: 600-700 m.

Early flight from Lukla to Kathmandu enjoy the scenic view of Himalayas.  Stay at a hotel and rest for some time. Transfer to International Airport for your departure.altitude loss:1,460 m
