Chulu West Peak is the ultimate peak climbing in the mid western part of Nepal. It is located in Annapurna region of Nepal. Chulu West Peak stands at 6419m. It offers the views of Annapurna Massif, Gangapurna, Tilicho and Thoring Peak. It is divided into four peaks, two in the east and two in the west. It was first renowned by the Japanese Expedition team in 1952.
Chulu West Peak is not technically challenging to climb. However, the route reaches a maximum of 6419 m at the Chulu Peak Summit. The trek starts from Dharapani to Chame village. It passes by ancient villages of Lower Pisang, Upper Pisang, and Manag. The trail slowly ascends towards Chulu Base Camp. The trip is also combined with the Annapurna Circuit via Muktinath and Thorong La Pass after the climb.
Seasonal Information:
The best season to climb Chulu West Peak is in spring and autumn. During the spring season, the temperature is mild and you can see blooming rhododendron forests. You can witness the stunning views of Annapurna Massif along with other peaks. Likewise in the autumn season, there is clear visibility. The weather is also stable and the trails are dry. Autumn is one of the popular seasons for trekking.
The other seasons are winter and monsoon. Experienced trekkers and climbers can go for adventure in winter. It is extremely cold at higher altitudes. You can see snow covered trails. Likewise in the monsoon, heavy rainfall takes place. There is a possibility of landslides which could make the trekking difficult. It is least recommended for trekkers and climbers.
Accommodation and Food:
Tea houses and lodges are available in villages like Chame, Pisang and Manang. You have to camp at higher altitudes like in Base camp, Camo I, Camp II. Camping materials are provided by organized expeditions. In tea houses, hot showers and wifi are available. The tea houses contain beds, pillows, blankets, and a bathroom.
For food, you get local foods like dal bhat, noodles, soups, and Tibetan bread. Likewise there is an option of western dishes like pasta, pancake, and porridges. At high altitude, the meals are prepared by the trekking crew. The foods that are available are oats, noodles etc. Boiled water is available.
Altitude Sickness:
There is a high chance of altitude sickness at higher altitudes. The primary symptoms of altitude sickness are:

Shortness of breath
You can prevent the sickness by staying hydrated. You must avoid alcohol. Proper acclimatization is needed . You should also consider carrying medication like Diamox.
Preparation Guide:
It is very crucial to be prepared for climbing. Preparation gives higher chances of successful climbing.

For Clothing: You need a down jacket, thermal layers, waterproof shell jacket and pants. You need gloves, wool socks, gaiters.

For Climbing Gears: You need Crampons and Ice Axe, harness and helmet, carabiners and ropes, mountaineering boots.

Other Essentials: Sunglasses, headlamp and batteries, sleeping bags, trekking poles, high energy snacks.

For Physical fitness: This trek is suitable for beginners also with many ascents and descents . So you need to be physically fit to walk for long hours.
