FAQs

Your trusted partner for unforgettable Himalayan adventures

No previous trekking experience is required for most of our beginner-level treks. However, a reasonable level of fitness is recommended.

Most nationalities can get a Nepal tourist visa on arrival at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport. The fee is USD 30 for 15 days or USD 50 for 30 days. Bring 2 passport photos and cash in USD. A few nationalities (India, China) have different arrangements — WhatsApp us with your nationality and we will confirm.

We recommend consulting your doctor or a travel health clinic 6–8 weeks before departure. Commonly recommended vaccines include Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Typhoid, and Tetanus. Malaria prevention may be needed for Chitwan/Terai regions but is generally not required for high-altitude treks.

Your insurance must cover: (1) emergency helicopter evacuation, minimum USD 500,000, (2) medical expenses at altitude, and (3) trip cancellation. We recommend World Nomads, True Traveller, or SafetyWing. Do not book a trek without valid insurance — helicopter evacuation from EBC costs USD 3,000–5,000.

Yes. All our treks run with a minimum of 1 person — you will never be cancelled due to low numbers. Solo trekkers receive the same quality guide and support. A solo supplement applies — see individual package pricing.

Altitude sickness (AMS) occurs when you ascend faster than your body can adjust to lower oxygen levels. Symptoms include headache, nausea, and fatigue. We prevent it by: (1) building acclimatisation days into every itinerary, (2) our guides carry pulse oximeters and check oxygen levels daily, (3) we follow the 'climb high, sleep low' principle strictly, (4) we never push clients to continue if they show symptoms. We have never had a serious AMS incident in 20 years.

Temperatures vary significantly. In spring/autumn (best seasons), daytime temperatures at lower elevations are 10–20°C. At EBC (5,364m), daytime temperatures are typically 0–10°C. Nights at high altitude can drop to -10°C or colder. We provide a detailed packing list with specific layering recommendations.

Yes. Most teahouses offer charging for a small fee (typically USD 1–2 per charge). At higher elevations above 4,500m, charging options are limited. We recommend bringing a 20,000mAh power bank. Solar chargers also work well in Nepal's clear skies.

Yes. Nepal is one of South Asia's most stable and tourist-friendly countries. Kathmandu is safe to explore independently. Trek trails are well-established and used by thousands of international trekkers annually. Our guides carry communication devices and maintain regular contact with our Kathmandu office throughout every trek.

Nepal's mountain weather can change quickly, especially at high altitude. Our guides are trained to assess conditions and make safety-first decisions. If a summit or high pass is unsafe, we take alternative routes or wait for conditions to improve. Your safety always comes before reaching any destination.

Absolutely. We have successfully guided trekkers in their 60s and 70s to EBC. The key factors are physical fitness and a slow, measured pace — not age. Our longest itinerary (14 days) is specifically designed to give adequate acclimatisation time. We recommend a pre-trip health check with your doctor

Yes. Airport pickup is included in all our packages. Your guide or driver will meet you at arrivals holding a Nepal Outdoor Expeditions sign. We will have your name and flight details confirmed before you land.
